The following images provide the layout for the bunkers. They were made out of rocket silos and some were even built-on later as people kept buying more. They are connected at the top level by concrete tunnels. Everything that requires power in the bunkers is run by solar power. There are attached windmills used only for back-up in case the sun gets hidden behind ashes from volcano eruptions.
The Pool:
The General Store sells canned foods and other foods if you want to make your own food in your own kitchen. However, for more convenience, there is a cafeteria for everyone in the bunkers that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The Classroom is only one room. Education starts at pre-k and goes up to grade 12. Since mixing grades wasn't working, the board of directors decided to separate times for each grade. Since some grades are close together in the learning process, certain ones have been combined. Because of this teachers are also required to be able to teach more than one grade.
Pre-k through Kindergarten: Starts at 8:00 AM and ends at 11:50 AM.-Located in the classroom in Bunker #1. Any students living in the other three bunkers must come over to Bunker #1.
First Grade through Fourth Grade: Starts at 9:30 AM and ends at 3:00 PM. 12:00-12:30 PM is reserved for lunch in the classroom. Teachers can choose to have special lunches in the cafeteria, though, but only once a month.--Located in the classroom in Bunker #2. Any students living in the other three bunkers must come over to Bunker #2 for class.
Fifth Grade through Eighth Grade: Starts at 1:30 PM and ends at 6:00 PM.-Located in the classroom in Bunker #3. Any students living in the other three bunkers must come over to Bunker #3 for class.
Ninth Grade through Twelfth Grade: Starts at 9:30 AM and ends at 2:30 PM.-Located in the classroom in Bunker #4. Any students living in the other three bunkers must come over to Bunker #4 for class.
Since it may be difficult to teach all required subjects to every student during the scheduled times, children are encouraged to be tutored by any resident in the bunkers. If a student has to repeat the grade there are no exceptions-it must be done.
If anyone wishes to further their education after high school there are special seminars similar to college courses that occur once every six months in the library. This is not a degree-earning type of thing- rather the leaders of the seminars are experts in what they do and share their knowledge with others who wish to know more about a specific field.
The Theatre is a movie theatre and also has a large stage for plays, musicals, or concerts. Anyone who wants to perform on the stage needs to ask the board of directors. The board of directors meetings happen in the library at the beginning of each month and consists of seven people. They can be voted out at the end of each year or voted back in. Their job consists of making sure everyone is still getting along and that the bunkers are running smoothly. They go over everything with security, the general store manager, medical team, the cafeteria workers, and the mechanics. Then they allow the other residents to come in and pitch ideas or ask permission to perform a play or concert.
